A keen all-round sportsman, Danny played junior football for Queens Park Rangers, and was offered youth terms by Reading. He also played schoolboy cricket for Berkshire and Oxfordshire and was invited to join Surrey County Cricket Club as a batsman.
But he discovered his real passion when he started playing rugby at 9 years old at Rosslyn Park in Roehampton and stayed at the club until U15s level.
Danny joined the Wasps Academy in 2003 and at the age of 17, he made his London Wasps 1st XV debut against Bristol in the Powergen Cup in December 2004. This made him the youngest player to take to the pitch in a senior rugby game at the time.
Danny made his Premiership debut from the bench against Bath in November 2006, when he scored his first competitive try. This was followed by his first Premiership start against Worcester in January 2007, where he was named Man of the Match after scoring Wasps only try of the game. Since then he has become one of the most talked about names in rugby.
Danny earned his first England cap as a replacement for Mike Tindall in the 2008 RBS 6 Nations match against Wales at Twickenham. He also came on a week later against Italy in Rome and started with England against Ireland in March, scoring 18 points in his first three appearances.
In May 2008, Danny suffered a career threatening fracture dislocation of his right ankle during Wasps' semi-final play-off victory over Bath. It was predicted that he wouldn’t play for at least six months, but he returned to the pitch six weeks ahead of schedule to play Bath, again, in the Guinness Premiership.
He was called up to the England Squad for the 2008 Autumn Internationals after Jonny Wilkinson was ruled out due to a knee injury.
Danny's father is from Trinidad and Tobago and he still has strong links with the Caribbean.
